At the June 28, 2018 Waterford Board of Education Meeting, Mr. Christopher Landry was appointed as the Director of Athletics and Student Activities for Waterford Public Schools. Mr. Landry will officially begin this new role with Waterford on July 1, 2018. He will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Mr. David Sousa. Mr. Landry will oversee athletics and student activities at both Clark Lane Middle School and Waterford High School.
Mr. Landry brings a multitude of professional experiences in education and athletics to this new position with Waterford. He holds a Sixth Year in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University and a Master’s Degree in Athletic Administration from Springfield College, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Springfield College. Mr. Landry currently serves as the Department Chair for the Physical Education Department at Waterford High School as well as a Physical Education teacher for grades 9-12. Since 2004 Mr. Landry has been an integral part of the Waterford Team, serving as a Physical Education Teacher at both Clark Lane Middle School and Waterford High School. He has been a varsity coach since 2007 and has been an asset in building successful programs from the ground up. Mr. Landry has served as the interim Athletic Director in Waterford on a number of occasions and has earned the respect of his colleagues serving in this role.
Colleagues and supervisors in Waterford remarked that Mr. Landry has “been a corner stone at Waterford High School both in the realms of athletics and leadership.” He is “always looking to improve the quality of the athletic experience for his players, as well as raising the bar for Waterford athletics as a whole.” Others said “his character is of the highest level” and he is “always willing to make sure that decisions are collaborative and in the best interest of the student…he is a team player.”
